The Full Moon of May, auspicious in the Buddhist world as the anniversary of the date 2500 years ago of the Buddha’s Awakening, happens on THURSDAY 23rd MAY.
The practice of YOGA NIDRA is often done on Full Moon Days as our response to the Full
Moon renders us more open and receptive.
YOGA NIDRA is a form of Yogic Sleep and during the practice you are led through a series
of preparations and visualisations into that intermediate state (known as a pedagogic
state) between wakefulness and full sleep.
During the practice, you simply lay passively in a relaxation pose with plenty of cushions
for comfort and blankets for warmth. The practice lasts approximately 50 minutes.
This month’s practice will take place at The Space on
THURSDAY 23rd MAY at 7.30pm
Itwill be a ‘hybrid’ event (ie. ‘live’ in Studio 1 plus on Zoom).
It will be led by Derek Smith who occasionally teaches yoga at The Space and is a Buddhist.
If you choose to join on Zoom rather than come and enjoy it ‘live’, then the Zoom code
you will need to use is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83757717862
There is no charge for the event but if you would like to make a small
donation to cover the room hire and the leader’s travel costs, then message Derek on
07507 683694 to find out how.
If you plan to come along please send a message to Derek to let him know.
